Hawick Golf Club Course Condition

There have been many incidents where members have been phoning up to find out the condition of the course for playing a game.

It is obviously difficult with our very changeable weather, however we will try to keep up with the change in weather and post the course condition here.

Please be patient as sometimes it will be a difficult call.

Course Condition

The winter is upon us and the winter policy (blue Flag)is now in operation. See notice on 1st Tee and in clubhouse.

Whenever possible the main greens will be open, but we must take care of them.

That also means repairing pitch marks!!

Winter Work 2009/2010

The green’s committee have agreed on the following various winter tasks, although not all will be able to be done due to weather and staffing levels:

1st Drainage on fairway.

3rd Discussed opening ditch, but it was felt that, because there was not enough water running during the Summer months to warrant it, that a fresh look was taken at this proposal. Move Winter tee to between Ladies and Boys tee. Put down root zone and seed back tee. Astroturf front of men’s tee. Sort out other drainage problems. Investigate the layout of new green.

5th Drainage on green Fill in slope on existing tee to aid cutting.

6th Add boy’s tee to Ladies tee.

7th Drainage on green and fairway. Amalgamate boy’s tee to front of men’s tee. Insert steps Trim back trees.

8th Cut out path and level.

10th Drainage on and around green. Move boy’s and ladies tee to front of men’s tee.

11th Move left hand bunker closer to right hand bunker. Shape front to green.

12th Add boy’s tee to front of existing tee.

13th Rebuild small wall by plinth.

15th Add edgings to path up to men’s tee. Put Astroturf around plinth. Cut back trees. Cut back rough in front of ladies tee.

16th Fill in and make buggy path around back of 5th green.

Please repair pitch marks on the greens, and replace your divots.

This will make a big difference to the course.
