Welcome to Hawick Golf Club

.

The 4th Hole, a testing uphill par 4 hole, where an accurate second shot is required, to a fairly small sloping green.

Welcome to one of
visitscotland.com's "Courses of the Month"

Hawick Golf Club is an old and well established golf club, which lies in the beautiful borders of Scotland, with it's rolling heather clad hills, and the Rivers Tweed, and Teviot, running through wooded valleys to the sea, centuries of history, castles, abbeys, and watchtowers.

Hawick Golf Club, the oldest golf club in the Borders, has been in existence since 1877. Located on the picturesque Vertish Hill on the outskirts of Hawick, where the famous brands of cashmere garments of Peter Scott, Pringle, Lyle and Scott, are produced.

Nick Faldo (who holds the professional course record of 64), Colin Montgomerie,
and Tony Jacklin, are all honorary members.

In fact Monty visited us earlier this year, to give a teach in to our youngsters (see inside for photos).

To top that, we also have the "voice of Rugby", Bill McLaren, as a life member, and he has been known to frequent the course on many occasions.

Course Details

Hawick Golf Course. Course Name: Vertish Hill, Holes: 18, Yardage: 5933, SSS: 69 A winding hillside course with most holes providing spectacular views of the Border Hills. A number of long par 4's and tricky bunkered par 3's make it a good test of golf.

A tough start with the first and second holes alongside a road (out of bounds), means that accuracy is vital.

The 392 yard 14th, looking towards Ruberslaw and the Cheviot Hills, offers a particularly spectacular view.

The "Vertish" with its subtle natural hazards, is a true test of a golfer's ability, and offers the handicap player a few hours of enjoyment and, above all, the desire to "play it again"!
